Instructions to generate the PocketTV log file on a Smartphone:

---------------------------------------------------------------

-- Note: instructions in this file only apply to PocketTV 0.11.5 or later --

Before going any further, install the latest version of PocketTV on your Smartphone. You can install the free-for-personal-use version (PocketTV Classic) or the demo of PocketTV Enterprise Version, both can be downloaded from www.pockettv.com.

If you have a Smartphone 2002 (only): Please install PocketTV on an SD Card to generate the log file.  Later on you can re-install-it in the phone by re-running the PocketTV setup-file.

You can download some demo files from http://www.pockettv.com/mpg/sp (for example http://www.pockettv.com/mpg/sp/mikes_new_car_sps.mpg).

PocketTV writes some trace information in a log file called "PocketTV_log.txt" if this file is present is a certain folder (that depends on the OS version).

To create the log file on your Smartphone, go in PocketTV Menu > Buttons, highlight “Enable / Disable log” in the list and press “1” to map this function on button “1” (you can map it to any other button if you want; by default the “Step” function is mapped on “1”).

Then press “1” and confirm that you want to enable logging.  Logging will start only after you Exit and re-start PocketTV.  Select “Menu > Exit” to exit PocketTV, then start PocketTV again.  When asked, confirm that you want to keep logging by selecting “No”. A dialog will indicate in what folder the log file has been created. ***Make a note of the folder*** so that you’ll know where the log file is, later.

While logging, play any MPEG file.  You don't need to play the entire file, just a few seconds is enough.

If you have a flip phone (e.g. Motorola MPx200, Mio 8380 etc), flip the phone closed, then opened, while PocketTV is playing.  We want to see what sort of notification PocketTV gets when you do that.

Then you must Exit PocketTV in order to close the log file. Select “Menu > Exit” to Exit PocketTV.

If PocketTV hangs/freezes, try stopping it with a Task Manager if you have installed one.  Otherwise, turn the phone OFF.  If you cannot power OFF the Smartphone, remove the battery.

Then send us the log file "PocketTV_log.txt". You can copy this file to your desktop using the 'Explore' tab of ActiveSync, then email us this file as an attachement.

Next time you start PocketTV, you should disable logging to return to normal operation by answering “Yes” to the log confirmation dialog.

Thanks!
